Midland Dump Truck Hire (MDH Limited) is proud to be supporting the construction of the groundbreaking £25 million Global Conservation Centre at Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire. This world-class facility represents one of the most significant conservation projects in the UK, designed to advance global conservation solutions through cutting-edge scientific research and education programmes.
The state-of-the-art Global Conservation Centre is being delivered by Henry Brothers Construction, with construction beginning in June 2025 and completion scheduled for late 2026. This pioneering development will establish Twycross Zoo as a recognised centre of excellence in the fight against the global extinction crisis.
The two-storey conservation centre includes impressive facilities such as a 200-seat lecture theatre overlooking a new Bornean orangutan habitat, cutting-edge science laboratories, three classrooms with adjacent wildlife gardens, and residential accommodation for visiting international experts and students. The centre will provide researchers from around the world with the opportunity to study the four great apes and over 100 other endangered species in naturalistic environments.
As the Midlands’ leading dumptruck hire company, MDH Limited is providing essential earthmoving and materials handling services to support this transformative construction project. Our fleet of modern dump trucks is facilitating the efficient movement of materials across the site, ensuring the project maintains its ambitious timeline for completion.
Funded by an £18 million government investment – the most significant government grant ever awarded to a UK zoo – this centre will position Leicestershire and the UK at the heart of global conservation efforts. The facility will serve as a hub for international research, development, and conservation work, creating high-skilled local jobs and attracting scientists from around the world.
